Rent a Bicycle for Fun and Relaxing Sightseeing
The area around Tsuruga Station and Kanegasaki Ryokuchi Park is dotted with great sightseeing destinations, from Kehi Jingu Shrine and the Tsuruga Red Brick Warehouse to the Tsuruga Museum Street. A bit farther out, you can find more great places like Kehi no Matsubara (Pine Tree Park), Saifukuji Temple, or the graves of Takeda Kounsai and his followers, and a bicycle makes the trip there much easier and more fun.
Bicycles make for the perfect way to enjoy the atmosphere of Tsuruga while enjoying the pleasant and refreshing breeze.
Four types of bicycles are available for rental: mama-chari, standard, sports, and electric-assist bicycles.
The main part of Tsuruga City isn’t particularly hilly, but if you head to a destination outside of the main city, you may come across some hills at bridges.
If you plan to head outside of the city, especially to more distant destinations like Saifukuji Temple or Jogu Shrine, we recommend selecting a bike with a gear shift that will allow you to adjust the stiffness of the pedals and the speed you’re traveling at to more easily handle slopes, wind, and other conditions.
